Did you know that there are around 9,000 families waiting for housing here in Wirral? Since 2010, 1,070 new council have been built in the North West - but none in Wirral.
And for existing tenants in some areas, standards still aren't good enough.
In November, the Government published the new Charter for Social Housing Residents, which aims to improve the way in social landlords respond to their tenants.
Tougher standards have been proposed to improve smoke and carbon monoxide detection in homes.
These are just some of the issues that need to be tackled. When Labour had a majority in the Council, these problems were ignored.
Since the last elections however, the Council’s new, all party Housing Committee is starting to look at the issues faced by tenants.
